On arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met and transferred to the nearby Nairobi Serena hotel. The Serena is a quiet sanctuary in a flower-filled garden amid the noise and bustle of one of Africa’s most dynamic cities. Overnight Nairobi Serena Hotel.

After breakfast you will be transferred to Wilson airport for a flight north to Samburu National Reserve. The north is a harsh and spectacular land—peopled by proud and fiercely independent nomads who wander in search of water and grazing for their herds of sheep, goats and camels. A bridge across the Uaso Nyiro River links Buffalo Springs and Samburu. This river is the main source of water for wildlife in the two reserves and provides some of the most stunning scenery. Two mountains dominate the landscape— Koitogor and the towering massif of Ol Lolokwe. Although the reserve is small by East African standards, it and nearby Buffalo Springs Reserve harbour many of the plant and animal communities typical of northern Kenya and provide a wonderful introduction to its landscape, flora and fauna. Because of permanent water this area is home to species such as buffalo, eland, impala, waterbuck, as well as those adapted to semi-desert conditions such as gerenuk, oryx and Grevy’s zebra, many of which are endemic to this area. Samburu Intrepids is a tented lodge with 30 tents with a view over the riverbanks.

Fly to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Mara is the northern extension of the vast savannah plains of the Serengeti, rolling grasslands that seem to go on forever, bisected by numerous water courses, some of the bigger ones lined with riverine forests, it offers the best game viewing in Kenya. On these wide, open grasslands you can often see an incredible variety of different animals at one time. Even without the wildlife the majestic views are worth the trip. Imagine bright oblique rays of evening light slanting under black storm clouds. The rich golden hues of waving grass are brilliant in this light. Beyond rise the steep smoky blues of the Oloololo Escarpment. Here you will spend 3 nights at Mara Intrepids. Mara Intrepids overlooks a sweeping bend in the Talek River, the camp consists of 30 tents.
3 nights at Mara Intrepids Camp

After breakfast board your private Cessna C208 aircraft and fly for about two hours to get to Allia Bay, Sibiloi National Park, Lake Turkana.

We will get there in time to settle into your simple camp before lunch time. After lunch we will drive you to the chosen eclipse viewing site so that you have time to set up your equipment.

The partial eclipse will start at 16:25 local time.

The total eclipse will be at 17:25 local time.

The partial eclipse ends at 18.27 local time.

After sunset and the end of the eclipse we will drive back to camp for a celebration dinner. The camp will be simple but comfortable. There will be stand up tents that will be used by two people. Comfortable mattresses on the floor and good bedding will be provided. The tents will be well lit. There will be a simple pit latrine and shower shared by every two tents. There will be Security Guards.

We will have breakfast at sunrise before getting aboard the flight down to Nairobi. If it is cool enough we might stay at low altitude, as there is the most stunning scenery as you fly south along the Great Rift Valley.
Arrive in Nairobi in time for lunch. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Nairobi.
