Upon arrival in Auckland, you will make your own way to your accommodation at the Adina Auckland Britomart for check-in. The remainder of the day is at leisure, allowing you time to rest after your journey, explore Auckland independently, or enjoy the hotel’s facilities.

In the evening, the group will come together for a Welcome Dinner at the Orbit 360° Restaurant located at the iconic SkyTower. This revolving restaurant offers an elegant dining experience paired with panoramic views over Auckland’s skyline, harbour, and surrounding landscapes as the city transitions from day to night.

Day 2Friday, July 14, 2028: Auckland & Surrounds (B, L)

Today you will enjoy a comprehensive full-day guided tour of Auckland and its surrounding regions. The tour showcases the city’s most famous landmarks, including the Auckland Harbour Bridge, Devonport, North Head, the Auckland Waterfront, Mission Bay, Mount Eden, the Auckland War Memorial Museum, and the Auckland Domain.

Beyond the city, the journey continues through the scenic countryside of Kumeu, Waimauku, Coatesville, and Riverhead, offering insight into New Zealand’s rural landscapes. Day 3Saturday, July 15, 2028: Hobbiton Movie Set & Waitomo Glowworm Caves (B, L)

This morning, travel south toward the Waikato region to experience two of New Zealand’s most iconic attractions. The day begins with a visit to the Hobbiton Movie Set, where the rolling hills of Matamata have been transformed into the Shire from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. Enjoy a guided walk through the set, including Hobbit holes, Bagshot Row, and the Party Tree, followed by a themed lunch and a complimentary beverage at the Green Dragon Inn.

In the afternoon, continue to the Waitomo Glowworm Caves for a guided underground experience through ancient limestone formations. The highlight is a serene boat ride beneath thousands of glowworms illuminating the cave ceiling like a star-filled sky. After the visit, continue onward to Rotorua.

Today is dedicated to Rotorua’s remarkable geothermal landscapes and rich Māori heritage. Begin with a visit to Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, where walking trails lead past vividly coloured hot springs, steaming craters, bubbling mud pools, and the famous Champagne Pool.

Later, visit Te Puia for the Te Rā Guided Experience in the Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley. Here you will witness the powerful Pōhutu Geyser, visit the Kiwi Conservation Centre, and observe master carvers and weavers at the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute. The experience continues with a traditional Māori cultural performance featuring pōhiri, waiata, poi, and haka. The day concludes with a traditional Hāngi buffet meal served at Pātaka Kai Restaurant, overlooking the geothermal valley.

After breakfast, transfer from Rotorua to Auckland Airport to board a domestic flight to Queenstown, marking your journey from New Zealand’s North Island to the South Island.

Upon arrival in Queenstown, transfer to town and begin sightseeing with a ride on the Skyline Gondola to Bob’s Peak, where breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu, Coronet Peak, and The Remarkables await. Later, board the historic TSS Earnslaw steamship for a scenic cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak High Country Farm. Final Payment Policy

If the final payment is not made within 7 days of the specified due date, Eclipse Traveler reserves the right to cancel your entire tour without any refund of payments already made. Final payments must be made exclusively via bank transfer; credit cards and checks are strictly not accepted.

Payment Methods:

You can pay with any major credit card; however, an additional 4% transaction fee will apply for credit card payments.
To avoid these fees, you are welcome to make your payment via bank wire transfer. For bank details, please contact your booking agent—they will be happy to assist you.

Cancellation Terms:

Cancellations must be submitted in writing via email, fax, or mail. Cancellation penalties apply as follows:

$2,500 per person deposit to secure your booking is non-refundable.
From August 2, 2026 – 80% penalty.
From August 2, 2027 – 100% penalty.

Therefore, we highly recommend purchasing trip insurance. You can request a quote for trip insurance through us—we partner with Travel Guard, a leading insurance company.

Insurance Information

Trip cancellation, health, and accident insurance are recommended but not required. It can save you money if you are forced to cancel or alter your trip. Itinerary Changes:
The itinerary is subject to change due to alterations in local flight schedules, weather conditions, or other meteorological factors that may affect the visibility of the eclipse. Viewing a solar eclipse is inherently weather-dependent. In the event of unfavorable weather, Eclipse Traveler reserves the right to change the itinerary, re-route, or cancel the tour, while offering suitable alternatives to guests in a timely manner.
Flight Bookings:
We strongly advise all guests not to book or purchase international flight tickets without first consulting Eclipse Traveler staff, to avoid conflicts with potential itinerary changes.
Tour Pricing:
Eclipse Traveler reserves the right to increase pricing for upcoming Total Solar Eclipse tours if local partners at any destination raise their rates. Additionally, if local carriers impose new surcharges, it may impact the final cost of the tour.
